Melaka Urban Study Videography - Superb Effort!!!

on wednesday 1 Feb 12 we all watched 7 videography on urban elements and it was very entertaining. you guys did a VERY good job in composing a interesting video.Unfortunately i tried to upload one video but failed (maybe too large)..

Overall, we were satisfied with your effort.hopefully you all could understand better about urban study based on the video.By using video/movie,it make it easier to explain our result/research/data to an audience. In general below are some comments from us:

Good storyline with nice effects - made your video look profesional

too much relying on video-no other references - only 1 group did a layout plan which better explained - other just show video & statement only.

interview - 1 group did interview 1 tourist - excellent!! this show that you have confidence

we believed you guys had fun doing the task as we enjoyed watching it. hopefully you can improve more in the stage -THE MASTERPLAN & BDI

Klebang Submarine Museum - Site Analysis Presentation 01022012

Asalam Sem6,

yesterday we had a session where site analysis of our project being presented.Below are several comments for your next course of action :
SITE - need to show entrance road from Jalan Klebang Besar to our site, to indicate initial site measurement (based on hoarding), no indication of site context.
NEIGHBOURHOOD CONTEXT & LEGAL - 'pulau' could be potential landmark, river condition- can it be used for our design? , Bistro - status on operating hours - day/night?, Dataran 1Malaysia - very likely to be linked to the site-How?? Proposed Water theme park - another good potential link - access/entry possibility
MAN-MADE & NATURAL PHYSICAL FEATURES - empty land can create endless possibility - go figure out how to grap this chance.
CIRCULATION/SENSORY/UTILITIES - good examples of parking layout - to include bus layout, suggest suitable utilities -office layout/toilet/surau/foodcourt etc - more images to support your research. Sensory - not enough informations - should cover visual/sound/smell, pollutions-suggest ways to overcome the problems
CLIMATE - get your NORTHPOINT right!! important to know sunpath as our main exhibit IS outdoor (remember??) it shall affect your design orientation. Good review on weather & tempreture - meaning design shall need LOTS & LOTS of shading in our site.

Overall, site analysis ISN'T just collecting datas & facts or just taking pictures of the site..you must know how to digest all infos and make an appropriate synthesis. Meaning you should able to UNDERSTAND and able to give respond/output of the task.

As mentioned in studio, please revise & amend all analysis before printing out. All analysis shall be in A3 size paper and shall be pinned on display board behind our studio.....

Melaka...Here We Come..!!!

Asalam & selam sejahtera Sem6 Dis 2011,

hari ini merupakan hari yang agak padat di studio...

anda semua telah dibahagikan kepada kumpulan yang akan membentuk The Firm, menyediakan ruang utk firm masing2, diberi taklimat tentang projek 2 C5328 Design 4 dan juga sedikit input berkenaan urban elements yang akan digunapakai dalam proses rekabentuk. Dan saya pasti ada antara anda yang mungkin tidak dapat catch up dengan agenda yang berjalan pagi tadi.(sebab ramai yang nampak mengantuk..)

Nevermind, lets refresh our mind on what need to be done in near future...
1st - setup firm's organization ( name/logo/mission/vision etc)
2nd - each firm need to do case study on museums,space planning,maritime etc as discussed.
3rd - each firm need to look into the 7 urban elements discussed during input session.
4th - prepare youself for study trip to Melaka (the event you guys waiting for) - dont forget the camera!!

these are the things which need to be considered by you guys.personally myself,Cik Fatimah and Cik Sue are quite excited to see your progress in this project.

sepertimana yang diterangkan dalam sesi briefing pagi tadi,projek 2 adalah projek selaras bagi Sem 6 DSB Politeknik iaitu Cadangan Pembangunan Kompleks Pelancongan Klebang Melaka terdiri dari muzium kapal selam,replika kapal Cheng Ho dan Kapal mendam Berahi (tak salah saya) dan sebagainya.projek ini akan dipertandingkan di antara politeknik yang terlibat (Psis/PMM/Puo).

My advise : be prepare to do extraordinary things for your firm and project. Aim high and try to reach for the stars!! tinggalkan sementara kawan/famili/bff/bf/gf (tak lama...3 bulan je) untuk concentrate your final project. kalau you guys put your minds & efforts together kami yakin you all can do the best...

Probably someone should try google where exactly is our site ( tip: pantai klebang melaka). sapa2 yang dapat boleh print and bring along during our visit.

WELCOME SEM6A DIS 2011!!! better late than never ...

greetings sem6A,
its been quite a while since we update our blog.this was due to some issues on deciding on your project for this semester.nevertheless, it has been resolved and we shall deal with some interesting tasks for you guys.
1st of all, i believe you all have introduced to the studio lecturers for this semester.Myself,Cik Sue and Cik Fatimahwati will guide and facilitate your class.Cik Sue gave an overall view on Design 4 and the projects which we will undertake. We hope you all understand all the tasks and prepare to get down and dirty with it.(??!!...)

we started off with a quick pretest on construction and technical and what a surprise we've got!!
out of 35 students only 2 were managed to perform to the standard we've looking for.But do not worry....we shall give proper guidance and hopefully you guys shall rise to the occasion.this is the time you will learn and do not afraid to make mistakes because making mistakes will make you learn...

by now you all probably know that Cik Sue is preparing for a trip for you guys.so be nice to her and make sure you all come early to studio every morning,ok...?

~Design Port Folio Review~

as you all already know, our portfolio review will be held on 24th Nov 2011 this thursday.As mentioned before, it will be in the format of interview...similar to the process you all will be encountered later when applying for jobs.

the portfolio will be reviewed by 3 panels consist of 2 lecturers each:

Panel A : Wira , Think Green , Kongsi , Buloh at Studio 6A

Panel B : Creads , Sevarch , Limitless , Fanz at Studio 6B

Panel C : FH , MDA , Dream Studio , Krakasa at Studio 5 aka 'the Oven'

each student will be interviewed INDIVIDUALLY to see the performance throughout the semester. the panels will look into several kriterias such as technical knowledge,design understanding,aptitude and attitude.

the schedule are as below:

8am - 9am = Preparation of Exhibition - group & individual works

9am - 12.30pm = Interview Session

12.30 - 2.30pm = Break

2.30 - 4.00pm = Interview Session (cont)

4pm- 4.30pm = Conclusion

so be prepared... COME EARLY to arrange your work in each studio....get ready with all documents & drawings...redo/repair/upgrade according to comments during the entire semesters.

All drawings must be in A3 size with relevant documents nicely arranged in your individual file.this should include all design process drawings which youre involved.

get a haircut...make sure your dress nicely ironed...polish up your shoes...the key point here is to make your self PRESENTABLE and look CONFIDENT

Well Done but lets move on!

Well done to all of the Firms involved in the final presentation. Our Industrial Academic Partner, SDP, gave positive comments to most of your work so you should be happy with your achievement. However, the journey is not over. Portfolio is your last bridge to cross before graduating from PUO Architecture program.
