First of all Happy Thaipusam to those celebrating it!
The BDI phase is here. This means that each member of firm will have to compete with each other to win the project. This is the most creative phase, your design ideas will be valuated and if accepted, celebrated as the best idea to be designed further.
So what must you do? The requirements are -
Research Results - A1 (Technical for Site & Site Analysis)
Building Suggestion - suggest a building based on analysis. -A1
SOA -A1
Early Design Sketches of Ideas (as shown above) - A1
Early Schematics - Plans, Elevation, Sections - A1
Artist Impressions (2D Perspectives) - 5 to 6 images (A1)
3D Ideas - 1 Mass Model(Real or CGI) on Site
1) Analyze the data you got from the last phase. Try to make sense of it.
2) Come up with a building type/name based on your analysis – Why did you choose it?
3) Draw/Sketch Bubbles first that leads to Schematic Drawings. Here is an appropriate definition of Architectural Schematics I found from the WEB:
“Schematic drawings include basic dimensions of the building, the major architectural elements, and the structural systems. These basic drawings are used as a primary illustration of the project. They are not detailed so that major changes can be made quickly and easily before the real detail design begins.” – These drawings include the usual plans, sections and elevation4) Artist Impression – These are actually perspectives drawn with an artistic flair (think of it as a black and white art with some colors/ painting). The purpose of this drawing is to SELL your idea and WIN the heart and mind of the client.Click Here to see some samples.

5) Mass Model – A 3D Model( Digital or Not) to show your design ideas and don't forget your SOA
Again, let me remind you that this is the most creative phase of this project, so please enjoy it!
